I had a very very very slow connection to the internet, accessing my another US-hosted site. I also did experience a slow loading of the CNN news web site… Although it did load, maybe it did load from cache. For me to load my wordpress-wp admin took awhile too…. Local sites looks ok.. Photobucket site was also having some issues. Anyone with any idea?
DELL Closure of Edmonton Contact Center!
I was surfing the net just to find out that DELL closed another contact center after the Waco contact center was closed down. This will affect about 900 people. The news was officially broken to the employees on last Thursday morning. Some will leave immediately and some in the weeks to come. It was mentioned that the salary being paid at the center ranged from 28,000 - 45,000 per year.
Job interview questions-1
“Gangsters are not define by how low your jeans fall by your waist but more of how your jeans stands up to their expectations. - American Gangster 2007, the movie”
Hi guys,
I recently wondered about some of the technical questions for interviews that we usually face….. Yes, my company now has a lot of turnover of human resources recently due to various reasons. Since I am in charge of the windows platform, I was wondering about some of the windows technology questions that usually interviewers would ask. This topic would be a good blogging questions or prompter.
Me, myself, I haven’t really got really tough technical questions in an interview. So I can’t speak from experience. But here is where the Big Wide Internet comes in handy. Anyone who is a system admin, system designer, IT architect, IT specialist would know this next name that I am going to mention. He is a very very famous name within the IT community especially in the windows domain. He is from Israel, and is one of the two who holds, Windows Server System - Exchange Server MVP in Israel. He has done various reviews of books and his site, generates about 16, 000 hits per week! He is Daniel Petri. Daniel if you are reading, I am a fan!
Anyway, in his site, he has stated some of the questions that could be asked if you are a MCSE certified and looking for a system admin job. Its pretty haunting list that some of the stuff I don’t know how to answer.. But google came to my rescue. But as my fellow blogger, WingLoon mentioned, doing this and providing answers to all Daniel’s questions might not be helpful since some of the readers might just memorize the answers and be ready. My answers are in no way, the final and correct answers per say. I might even quote the wrong answers. Here is where you as readers could contribute to the list and answers.
So here it goes:
1. What is an AD?
AD is called Active Directory. Active Directory is basically a directory service that is used in a windows platform group called domain. It unifies management and the maintainability of a large group of objects like computers, servers and users. Its also a database that can be queried and is hierarchical, replicated, and extensible. Basically in the windows server that is responsible of the AD maintenance which is called Domain Controller, there is a file where is database is populated, its called NTDS.dit.
2. What is LDAP?
LDAP stands for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. In plain and simple terms, its a database whereby it has all the details of all of organizations, individuals, and other resources such as files and devices in a network, whether on the Internet or on a corporate intranet,” and whether or not you know the domain name, IP address, or geographic whereabouts. An LDAP directory can be distributed among many servers on a network, then replicated and synchronized regularly. An LDAP server is also known as a Directory System Agent (DSA). Its a not a relational database. Outlook and other email programs uses LDAP to search for a recipient in an organization. Does AD has LDAP capabilities? Yes, AD adhere to the standard LDAP protocol (defined in RFC 2251). If you use any LDAP capable tool to query AD, it works. If you’ve ever searched for information using the Active Directory Users & Computers MMC snap-in, you’ve already seen an LDAP search in action, working behind the scenes to retrieve the information you requested.
adfind -b dc=mycompany,dc=com -s subtree -f “(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(samAccountName=j*))”
3. Can you connect Active Directory to other 3rd-party Directory Services? Name a few options.
The only ones I know off, is eDirectory services from Novell. I don’t have any much info on this at this moment. If you guys know of anything please do let me know in the comment section. Thanks.
Google your private info
I just found out how powerful can google be. I never thought I will have some private information on the internet. In this case is my certification on Allied Teleysn website.

Just image what if you can find your IC No, Bank No online…. maybe not yet, but in the near future, maybe it will be true.
Newest Microsoft Product……….. Welcome SURFACE!
Hi guys,
Sorry for not blogging for quite awhile. I am going to break my New Year blogging about Microsoft latest product, which is called Microsoft Surface.

For the first time hearing it, it sounds like Microsoft has gone into the construction business. But believe me or not, they didn’t. Heheheh….Anyway this product was code named - Milan. Remember watching Minority Report starring Tom Cruise? Yea, the way he bring people’s photo and web pages, by just touching them and moving them around on a glass wall. Well that is what Microsoft claims they can do with they latest product.
This product comes from they newly created group called: Productivity and Extended Consumer Experiences Group run by Corporate Vice President Tom Gibbons, and this is what he had to say about Microsoft Surface:
It’s a powerful technology that is visually compelling. Surface is a horizontal display on a table-like form factor that morphs from an ordinary table-top into a new, vibrant way to bring connected entertainment and digital content to users. The cool factor is the way you interact with digital content by using your hands to get what you need. Surface provides effortless interaction with digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects. Because Surface is essentially housed in a table, it’s easy for individuals or multiple people to gather around it in a way that feels familiar – making collaboration more powerful and fun.
Just imagine now, you don’t even have to use tv or a screen with remote you can have a touch panel on your living room table and that touch panel is your entertainment center. This seems to coincide nicely with Dell’s latest tablet notebook that is capable of doing the same thing. Look at the video here
Rumors are that the cost will be about $5,000 to $10,000 per unit………. Yeap…….. Thats in USD folks! Darn too expensive for some of us, who are not multi-millionaires.
The prototype was based on an IKEA table with a hole cut in the top and a sheet of architect vellum used as a diffuser. You might think that IKEA might use this technology in the future. The team also developed some applications, including Pinball, a photo browser and a video puzzle. Over the next year, Microsoft built more than 85 early prototypes for Surface. The expected shelf date might be in the spring of 2008. So stay tune. In the time being, check out this site to see and experience their features.
